Build intelligent workflows to identify and reach the people that matter

Are you overwhelmed by conflicting advice about AI, visibility, and communication?

AI tools promise to improve your academic work and increase your visibility. At the same time, you are often told to communicate more for your research to reach beyond academia. And a growing number of platforms, tools, and recommendations make it difficult to know where to focus your attention.

But you do not want to become an AI specialist or a full-time content creator!

You want a practical system to identify relevant people, refine your communication with them, and build professional networks around your own research.

Find the people you should know

This workshop helps you build practical workflows to identify and reach the people connected to your work: clinicians, technicians, school leaders, municipal employees, industry specialists, programme officers, journalists, NGOs, and policymakers. And potential future collaborators that you have no way of knowing.

You will learn how to:

  • Use AI tools to map stakeholders connected to your research
  • Refine communication for specific audiences with tailored AI support
  • Build sustainable networking routines
  • Develop workflows that support your own research networking practice

The workshop combines discussion, practical exercises, and collaborative exploration based on participants’ own communication challenges. We draw on examples and experiences from previous workshops and real academic contexts.

Build practical AI workflows

The workshop includes techniques and workflows for:

  • Using ChatGPT, Perplexity, LinkedIn, and custom AI assistants to identify relevant people and organisations
  • Refining prompts, templates, and communication workflows for different audiences
  • Exploring agentic and semi-automated workflows for monitoring topics and key people
  • Critically evaluating AI-generated outputs

This workshop is not about generating endless AI content. It is about building practical systems for finding and reaching the right people.

Workshop: Strategic communication advice for research leaders

Mike makes complex AI tools and workflows accessible to non-technical audiences. In a workshop at the University of Copenhagen on using custom GPTs for communication, he combined clear explanations with practical examples. Participants quickly understood both the possibilities and limitations of the tools and began applying them in their own work
